Few weeks before ready paint and kit it out. Not happy with shed as not sealed from damp. Bolted direct to slab no gasket or mastic sealant fitted so have asked them sort it as water can get under frame and dampens floor

Plan imaginary divide, tryin keep 1/2 empty and tools and shelves in other 1/2. That way can put couch in, tv an desk for computer use as office

I see why the dampness will be getting in,the right hand side the water will run down the wall and then settle on the concrete to seep under the shed.You won't cure it with sealant.I had the same problem with a shed i built. I eventually cut around the bottom with a stihl saw to create a gutter if you like. This has cured 99% of the problem.
The sides really need to overlap the edge of the base.

All concrete being sealed anway, i have a contact in company that uses industrial paint to seal concrete

Would damp proof plastic(?) strips put under the walls of the shed as it was bolted to the floor not acted as a run off? Can the shed be lifted an inch to have a strip slipped under and sealed to the floor ?

Like your stove. Would an old keg be able to be converted into a stove?

Dpc is not UV rated so break down after few months in the sun

I have ways around it if they don't come out

I have big pipe that be next stove

Find keg or gas tank won't handle heat from coal

Aluminium should work but lead or zinc flashing is the only long term solution for running water off the floor slab edges. Presumably the slab has a DPC membrane.

yes DPC is under full slab and up over edges

when being doing drawing led believe the shed be fitted on a sealant or gasket of some sort.

they since said drawing is wrong and DPC should bee wrapped over slab and cut flush inside shed. but this is crap, as still means moisture get in under shed. also DPC breaks down int he sun so it would one work for 1-2 year max

been onto few builders and all say shim it up, felt under it and then drop it back down on felt and if want run bead mastic alone felt to seal it fully. so run 3" strip of felt in under frame. then a 12" strip onto an creates a gentle slope away from shed

then fold the rest of the 12" strip torch on felt over slab over lapping my DPC

Then paint with silver sealing paint used for roof gullies and have permanent fully sealed shed.

anyway its covered in show and freezing, bot 1 drop condensation and with so much sunlight coming in its still lot warmer inside with no heating. bit damp at edges but once gt few dry spells ill fix it with felt as dad and fatherinlaw were builders in past life so said will come up and 2-3hrs will have sealed in

a few pics of the sealing would be appreciated by those thinking of 'shedding' in the future.

yep ill get them taken as we go. ill also do up what we feel is the best way to seal.

you need a stepped foundation slab, the 2 pout method is a waste time and a 40mm inner floor on doc between it and slab is never going bond well onto main slab.

also the other method other companies use is just put shed on gravel and pout concrete inside, this is poor choice as seen these get real damp


simple job is if knew were not going put sealer in we would do it and no issues to think off

once done ill show what mean via pics and drawings

i have 20mm kingpan insult on walls and shed is warmed via sun and bone dry no dripping

i would recumbent anyone doing this to get it pre insulated. i did not wanted twin skin metal as a skin of light ply fixed to 4x2 support added to shed frame is better finish, then paint and have strong hanging wall for shelves

another note

if going DIY or getting one fitted

NEVER EVER use silicone or let them use it. it rots metal and over time breaks down and won't seal properly

Get your sheeting supplier or local ductwork fabrication shop to fold some strips of very thin aluminium and use it as a type of drip flashing between the bottom of the sheets and the concrete base. Just make sure it clears the edge of the base. The shop should be able to give you a suitable aluminium sealant to join the corners.
