Just ordered a stainless pipe for the E.

Predator make pipes in-house for the E & the S models

..But cheaper if bought from them via eBay

"The PS02 system that you have indicated is listed in our layout as fitting the DRZ400E K2 OFF road model for manufacture years 2000 through 2005 inclusive. So assuming your machine is in that age range, then this pipe should fit your machine.
We list a separate system under a different part number for the SY K4 road model bike".

"These pipes are made by us in house. Assuming we received your order today, Fabrication would commence on Monday 3rd Jan, We would expect the pipes would leave us on the Wednesday 5th Jan.
Tracking number would be issued, we normally use APC parcels courier for these deliveries and they generally arrive on a next bay basis for the uk mainland.
Therefore I foresee no major delays".

So, after being promised "the pipes would leave us on Wednesday 5th Jan", I rang them today to ask what was going on. 'Very busy' they said, 'you're next on the list & work will commence tomorrow'. :eek

Decided to take the old pipe off to see what gaskets could be rescued but ultimately decided to replace both.
Pipe to head £9.74. There are copper gaskets currently for sale on eBay for a couple of quid but these are half the thickness of the originals.
Pipe to silencer £14.64. The old one was stuck solid to the original pipe & removing it would just destroy it.

Pipe came off OK & cleaned up the threads with my tap/die set.

I've measured the original pipe so I'm hoping the replacement is identical. (41mm OD)

Where did the front screen/headlight assembly come from?

It belongs to a chap in the Netherlands. He made two. One for him and one for his mate. It is a combination of the BMW Dakar screen and the DRZ screen. He filled in the gaps with epoxy and created a mould so if he trashed it he could make spares.

Looks like Steve McQeen territory. Watch out for the barbed wire!

This shot was taken in Romania on the Eastern European Rally.

22nd Jan, rang to enquire where my exhaust was.

I was informed it was sent out a week ago & signed for. :eek

Sent to wrong address. :(

Eventually found out where it was sent & collected it.

Hurray, I thought. :thumb2

Wrong pipe sent, 400S 38mm & not the 400E 41mm - waiting on a courier to collect it & will have to go through the whole process of manufacture & despatch again.

The welds on the sections are not exceptional & there's nowhere to bolt the std heatsheild to. (The photo in their ad shows heatsheild fitted & a 'weldless' pipe, see 1st post)
Overall experience with Predator so far - POOR!

The guy in despatch promised he'll get in touch when the correct pipe is on it's way & send me a tracking number and confirmed he has my correct address.

We'll see eh!

And now the thrilling conclusion to this story..
