Hi all.

Been a lurker for a while now, and finally biting the bullet tomorrow, going to buy a R1200GSA... Purely because my current bike has been off the road for the past 3 months in bits, and its a bit of a moose as it's still not right after putting £££'s into it...

I've already test ridden the GSA down at the Touratech event in June, fell in love with it straight away. And considering I've been hooning about on a jap inline4 (Bandit 1200) for the past 12 months before, was quite surprised! But then, I am a bit of a fat git, so it did feel just right :P

So yeah... Just wondering what to expect, how best to haggle, etc etc... I'm opting for the 30th edition, so just wondering what optional extras (other than the Extended Warranty) are worth going for? Although I don't want ESA and ASC (reading on here has already persuaded me not to bother with it)

I'll be heading to Chester Motorrad (local to me) as I'm based in Cheshire.

As for how I ride, well, the bike *is* my only form of getting about, regardless of weather, wind, rain, sleet, snow, frost... I'm out and about.

Cheers for any tips and advice, I know it's quite short notice, but I only decided earlier today to do this. I've been toying with the idea for the past 3 months about getting one, and now it's happening...

Go for it fella, I can't recommend or disregard any of those fancy elektrickery bits you mention but for what it's worth "simple is safe";)

Enjoy.

Hullo Paul......:pullface :D

GSA....you'll love it :thumb

Chester Motorrad....good lads..

Great choice :thumb2

Shop around - there are differing deals, and it is the end of the season for dealers, so they may co-operate a little.

In my experience they are usually more prepared to sell you their first-born child than give you a meaningful discount, but I've done quite well on "upgrades" that are rolled in FOC.

Great choice - just make sure you test the deal with a few other dealers befoer you do a deal.

Oh - and welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll find your way to the 1200 section quickly enough. There's a good useful links section in there.

Well when I went to a few dealers a few weeks back, and Chester were ranting & raving about free luggage when you buy a bike, I hope that offer is still on, if not I'll try my best to blag it. But yeah will see whats what. Either way, I'll be handing over a cheque tomorrow to get things rolling.

How long roughly does it take for a new bike to be assembled & registered and such?

The bike needs to be registered by 30th September to get the free luggage. I think Allan Jefferies may have a 30 Year Adventure in the showroom without ESA/ASC. Might be worth giving them a call :thumb

Eeeee thats a bit of a treck lol! Having to rely on public transport for now to sort this :(

Chester is shut tomorrow, I know they had a 30th anni in, ahwell...
Southport superbikes will be called tomorrow, aswell as Manchester, but yeah, will try Allan Jeffries too cheers :)

Bonus is, no wait on the finance front as will be paying up front for it, so should help get things moving along quicker (I hope)

I think the panniers offer has been extended until Dec 31st. Great bike, just got mine in grey last week!:thumb

That offer is on to the end of the year now mate. Why is that such a big deal the panniers surely come from the importer, try for two grand off, and settle mid way!! Buyers market whatever bull they tell you, and I'm sure the multistrada has had some effect on sales!! I'll be after one in the next month or so so interested what deal you can get, maybe we could do a deal for two!! :thumb2

Paul.. your screen name is strangely familiar!!

Congratulations :thumb2 on your move over to the dark side.

Got from Southport Superbikes - Pick it up Saturday :)

R12GSA 30 edition, with Dynamic and Premium package included (purely as it was the only one they had in, but hey-ho). Got the free luggage too :) And they threw in a free aluminium top box and rack too as I wasn't going down the finance route :)

Mike was a lovely chap to deal with, really can't fault him! Parents came along with me to see what all the fuss was about, so we all had a brew and a natter, awesome stuff!!

:JB
