And it gets even better or worse, depending of course, on your perspective.

My wife was born in Hastings, I was born is western Wyoming. That's correct, a big, wonderful Wyoming cowboy.

This coming August, my family and I are invading your turf via my 13 yo and his soccer team.

I'd like to get some information and make some contacts to really indulge myself for the two weeks we'll be in your area.

Time frame: August 2004.

Where are you staying/basing yourself?

Out on your own while he plays football (you know, the proper version :D) or just odd days/evenings?

More info gives more solutions & suggestions :thumb

Hey Ken.

Welcome. Trust you're a GSer too? You'll get every chance to test a little more of the edges of the tyres in the UK compared to the US :D :D :D . Wouldn't mind taking a GS down 101 in CA though.

What you get up to depends on what you like and how long you're here. Sure you'll get plenty of advice. Think about the chance of going to France or Belgium for the day/or two to get a flavour too. Easy to get to, great food, tons to see.

I'm just along the coast from Hastings BTW.

Thanks for the replies.

The most important answer is YES, I'm a GS'er. Currently riding a very nice, black GS over hill and dale in Utah and Wyoming. And I like it very much!

Apparently the football boys are staying at the Dunstone College dorms and the workouts and scrimmages are there. Family members are lodged elsewhere, but it must be close.

Of course, I'd like a turn around your countryside on a bike. Are there reasonable rentals availabe? Also enjoy pedal biking so any suggestions for those rentals appreciated.

What is the best source to educate myself about your region?
