Hi guys and Gals

looking to come over to the "dark side"

Curretnly ride an 05 955i Tiger.

Been looking at a mint 07 1200 GS. She's in great condition but I have a few questions that the owner could not answer.

Assuming its a March 07 Reg.

Has it got servo brakes and what are the advantages and dissadvantages.

Will it have Linked brakes and again the + and -.

Thanks all, looking forward to joining you on a permanant basis soon:thumb2

Hi :thumb2

I'd be very worried if the owner doesn't know if it's got servo brakes or not

Easy test for servo or not. turn on the ignition, start the engine, apply one of the brakes, is there an electrical whining and the headlight dims? If the whining and diming happens = servo. There are those who prefer the servo as it means you have to apply the levers a little less, most dislike the lack of feel from it.

I think that the bike you're looking at won't have sevro brakes but will be "partial integral". That is front brake lever may give a little back, rear lever just does the rear brake. The servo braked models have the same brake distribution too.

Hi,

I, like you had a 955i Tiger, mine was a 54 plate. I bought a 2008 1200GS in November 2008 (58 plate) and it is the best move I ever made.
My bike doesn't have a servo but has linked brakes. The GS brakes are far better than the Tiger's brakes ever were in fact I use mine mainly at low speeds because the engine breaking effect on the GS is phenominal.
I am more confident on the GS than the Tiger too.
