Hi

Had my '52 1150 GSA since new. High maintenance wifey and 5 x kids means I don't get to go out very often. Only got 16k on the clock.

Today I put a fully charged battery into my GS after winter and after a couple of blips it started, but sounded very very rough. Took it out foe a few mins and not a happy GSA. Lack of power, then a sudden burst, then flat, then a burst, then flat, every now and then a backfire. Hmmmm !

Put it on the centre stand and listened, and listened. Put my hand on LH cylinder (facing forward) nice and warm, RH cylinder cold Oh oh! not looking good, switched off.

Got onto Google and found UKGSER.com, signed up and here I am.

I have downloaded the BMW workshop manual, have a cellar full of tools, just not a lot of experience.

Need some help guys. Can I fix this or should I find a man that can ?

Thanks in advance.
Adrian

Changed the battery.?
Throttle body RHS cable has probably come out.
Do a search for Steptoes photo and throttle body and all will become clear. ( I can't find it atm so maybe someone can find a link)
Hopefully it's as easy as that!

Gentlemen

You are brilliant ! Thanks so much, it was indeed exactly what was the problem. 1 second tweek to the cable, quick reset (3 x slowly!) turned the key and voila! A nicely burbling, balanced GSA.

Once again, Thanks.

A years subscription paid for many times over if your only solution is hours poring over a manual or worse, an expensive trip to a dealers. :thumb
