newby idiot questions ........

Am about 3 weeks away from picking up my new GS and am thinking of taking the plunge and getting a GPS system as well.

Obviously I am approaching this knowing nothing about GPS - I will be spending a lot of time reading through this forum- but a couple of general questions:

1) Being a Mac user are there software issues I need to be aware of

2) Am I missing something or is the BMW unit about twice as much as it should be..?

3) Any recommended unitss I should look at

!/ As a Mac user you should be careful that the system you buy is Mac friendly. The gps is mainly self contained but you need the pc link to update maps etc.

2/ Anything BMW is twice the price it should be including the bike! And yes, the BMW system is a re-badged Garmin with a few extra features and a bigger memory.

3/ Sadly, Garmin is to GPS systems what Microsoft is to PCs. So buy Navman and make a protest!
