I hope that ACF50 is as good as people say.

Cleaned, sprayed, muffs and shyte blanket fitted all ready for winter commuting.

It is, if you've given it a good coating all over. Haven't done mine yet, waiting for my bottle to be delivered. By March the bike will look like it has been dragged out of a canal, but after a good clean it will be fine underneath all the shite. I don't bother with cleaning or re-applying over the winter but I do spray FS365 every weekend on top of everything else. Seems to work.

My advice is to give the bike a hose with cold water every couple of weeks, then spray a load more ACF on. Don't use any soap to wash the bike.:rob

Why would you need more than one coat of ACF? Surely if it's applied correctly, one coat will suffice and perhaps topped up with FS365 or WD40 as Seahorse has said?

You pore buggers. Weather forecast says warm and dry. Winter was hell, we had 3 days where it went under 6degC proper cold that was

I'd not trust one coat completely for the whole winter, especially if riding every day. Some on here have been surprised to find corrosion after the post winter wash, on their ACF'd bikes.

Lots of threads on ACF50 and how different people apply it. Obviously exhaust headers, brakes etc should be avoided. Do you apply it to the cylinder blocks or does it burn off them?

Just said exhaust headers because one I managed to set fire to my exhaust using a spray oil/preservative!. Cant remember what it was as it was a long time ago. I just wondered if it would stay on the cylinder blocks with the heat or if it just runs off so needs reapplying after each ride. Not familiar with its thermal properties. To get a nice smell I could always rub Castrol R on the headers, take me back to my RD days :-)

+1. Plastic bags over the discs and calipers and spray away merrily. Wipe away any excess before it drips on the floor.
Spray some into the cap and use either a cotton bud or an artist paint brush to dab it onto the ends of spokes where they go into the rim or hub. Use a bit of sponge to treat the spokes if they aren't stainless.

With the amount that seems to be on your front tyre I don't think you'll need to worry about corrosion
Gave mine a good wash yesterday, will do the acf50 next weekend, though I don't plan on riding too much over the winter,

winter

mine has been coated in acf50 and i would normally ride it on decent days through winter( i,m 68 and retired so can pick my days) but have just had a new knee fitted so will be out of action till spring. roll on april.

I covered the discs, warmed the can in a pan of hot water and sprayed it all over and into every nook and cranny I then used a rag to spread the excess and wipe the rims, spokes and frame - the headers and cat got a good coating so when I rode it a mile to the local Italian Deli to buy some if their amazing Florentines it sat outside smoking as though it was on fire:D

I would 100% top up the ACF over the winter. Why risk corrosion setting in for the cost of a few extra squirts. When the roads are salted I spray the front of the engine & heads about one a week if I'm using the bike regularly as they take a real hammering and so far it's paid off with no signs of corrosion on this GS and previous bikes.

I don't do it once a week, but I do respray the acf50. As it creeps and works its way under the moisture, its worth the extra squirts ;)
