Nippy Normans Stop Alert thingy

Has anyone else fitted one of these litle devices yet?

I already have the excellant Lite budies fitted inside the rear indicators and decided to add the Stop Alert module to them so that they flashed when braking.

Now the principle I like, the rear indicators are illuminated when the side lights are switched on, thats good and I dont have a problem with that at all.

So next stage, wire the Stop Alert thing in to the back of the tail light assembly.

Now when you brake both the LED panels (red) inside the rear indicators flash about six times them revert back to being on all the time as they were before you braked. Thus leaving the OE brake light still on if you are still braking that is.

Now in theory I like the idea, but I'm not sure if it would present itself so clear to other road users or would it be very confusing??

Any thoughts?

Strictly speaking, they are not legal. I doubt that many police officers would do anything other than stop you to see what they're all about but there is always the chance that you may be stopped by the bloke who has had a discretion by-pass (every force has a few, seems to be obligatory!)

www.hyperlites.com - dual function lights specifically for the R1150GS. They are running lights and flashing brake lights. The best thing is you can fit them in two minutes. Unscrew the rear lens, unscrew the reflector. Unplug the connectors, plug in the hyperlites (which have double connectors) in their place, then plug the orignal light connectors into the hyperlight connectors. Job done. Cut the little loop wire if you want a 5 second flash, otherwise they will flash all the time the brakes are on.

Yes, I believe they are illegal, but to date I have had 2 police cars immediately behind me at traffic lights and have not been pulled.

I also purchased this item from Nippy's and fitted them with a small number plate. Reasonably easy to fit and shove out extra rear light which can only be a good thing!

Totally lost with plate sizes...
Do we all have the same in Europe ? Are the US plates very different from the European ones ?
How can we use the Hyperlite plate holder if our plates do not fit it ?

Hyperlite plate holder not needed. I just stuck mine either side of the rear light housing. Will post photos tomorrow if you want to. Madmountainman got Vern to make up a custom bracket for his Hyperlites. Search "hyperlites" in the innovators & vendors forum to see the pictures that he posted.
