No compass page!

I have had my 550 for a couple of years now. I don't have a page with the compass and pointer. A mate of mine with a 550 which is about 6 months newer and was updated last year has. Will the latest update cd install a compass page? Thanks in advance for any help.

While routing press the page button on the LH side (second one up). It cycles through the various pages with each press and one of these is the compass page

What version of the firmware are you on?
From main screen press Menu. Spanner. System. About.
The latest Software version is 4.70.
If you have v 2.50 or earlier you might not have full time compass display and should update your unit using the garmin WebUpdater program found here.

Are you using it indoors?

I seem to vaguely recall that not all of the pages pop up if you are not bike powered and / or in satellite reception range.... Though that could well be bollox.....
