Evenin' all.

All of a sudden (like, yesterday it was working) I have no sound. When clicking on the speaker icon in the tray on the bottom RHS of the screen, I get this message:

"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices go to Control Panel, click printers and other hardware, then click add hardware".

I've done this, Windows has detected a "new hardware device", the Multimedia sound player but I cannot install it as it cannot find the drivers/software.

Can anyone tell me what's gone wrong and how to fix it?

Cheers

Hi Gonzo,

You should be able to download any drivers you need from the web site of your sound card's manufacturer.

Yup :thumb

Go Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager and look under sound, video and game controllers.......that should tell you what you have, then Google it, find the manufacturer's web site and find the drivers.....with luck, they'll install from the site and you'll reboot and find you have sound again......if that doesn't work and you can't work it out, come back to us and we can talk you through it in more detail ;)
