I do not own a motorcycle but I felt like you all would be able to tell me the answer to my question. I have the audio signal for my gps going into the aux in of my car stereo. I am getting some hum over the signal and wonder if it is typical of the gps or should I be looking at noise over my ground as the probem? Thank you. :beerjug:

If you are powering both devices from the same battery, I.E. the car battery then a hum loop will result, Autocom make a special lead for this purpose for the SP3 and possibly for the 2610, try running the 2610 from internal batteries and see if the hum disappears.

Not only will the noise disappear, but so will the GPS's performance.

The 2610 doesn't have internal batteries!

But what you say about the Autocom lead for the SPIII is spot on - the same lead can be used for the 2610 too!

Thank you. :) Now my mission is to find such a product here in the states.

I have been shown a product called a ground loop isolator and shall be trying it this evening. I'll let you know if it solves my problem.

The ground loop isolator was a perfect success! My hum went from "OMG this is annoying" to "holy !@#$ it work's perfectly!" Seriously it removed every hint of noise from the signal. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :beerjug:

No internal batteries, oops, well thats buggered the carry it around in my hand function when I'm parked up somewhere new and have to find my way back, guess i'll stick to the Navigator then.
