Normal wear on hand grips.

Thinking about buying this 1150GS 2000. Have not been to inspect it yet.

Allegedly driven 45.800km (28.000 miles). Is this a normal wear on a 45K km bike in your opinion?

Yes quite common they are a soft compound and very east to replace by gently cutting with Stanley knife taking care not to touch heated grip film, new ones from motor works and slide on new ones with value hairspray this lubes the inside to slide on then sets simples

Looks bit much for 28k but could be contaminated with oil then wear quicker ,what about rest bike

From the pictures I have the rest of the bike looks a bit dull. The wheels don´t look very nice maybe it just needs a good cleanup. The wear on the handgrips just made me a bit concerned as I have yet to find out if it has good service records. If it has a good history of verifiable records then I will probably buy it. I will keep you informed.

To try and help the OP - when I bought my GS i thad 16k on the clock and the grips were so worn they were completely smooth in places - replaced them with same BMW grips and after 100k they look hardly worn at all. Either different material or some people/ gloves wear them harder than others, so yes could be normal wear.

Can't see the photo at the start, but my throttle side grip wore through by around 50k miles from new. So I replaced it, still got the left replacement grip cos can't be arsed to fit it while the original is still workable.
