Hello GS'ers I'm fairly new to the site and this is my first post. Just want to say what a great bunch of guys they are at North Oxford when my son and I went in for a new helmet today. Barry had loads of patience with my boy as he tried on different lids and everyone was very friendly - the best coffee ever too! They invited us to their new GS800 launch on the 8th March and even though I have only just passed my test they are happy to let me have a test ride. What a difference in attitude to some of the jap bike shops we went in - perhaps they'd never seen a woman on a bike before!!! 10 out of 10 for NOG They are doing a BBQ and Hog Roast on that day too

They really are a top bunch in there - get Steve to show you his Morris Dancing! He does a great reel (although he did recently fall over and broke his arm - although he tried to kid everyone he did it skiing)- just awesome!

I've never met the guys at North Oxford but I've communicated with them recently about an LT they have for sale. The maximum retail value for the bike is £8,300 but they're asking £9,800 - very disappointing!

Not quite sure that's fair. Assuming you mean the 2004 Lux; its £9.5k ex satnav. Seems to compare well with much higher mileage SE spec machines on offer elsewhere. Lower mileage private sales are asking £8k so £8.3k seems rather low for a maximum retail price. Have you tried negotiating?

I suspect I know the previous owner very well. Rest assurred the bike has been lovingly maintained and only ridden as it should be.

How to value an LT

I've never met the guys at North Oxford but I've communicated with them recently about an LT they have for sale. The maximum retail value for the bike is £8,300 but they're asking £9,800 - very disappointing!

Just to put this one to bed once and for all, Jaycee allegedly had access to Glasses Guide and attempted to understand it. He is correct in that an 04 plate LT SE does indeed have a retail value of £8300 at 15000 miles. Unfortunately what he forgot to mention was that our bike was a LUX version (£800 more than an SE whan new), had only done 7700 miles, and had sat nav, autocom, alarm, central locking, floor lighting, and a high screen. The previous owner had kept it in excellent condition (thanks Max), and prior to sale we would service it, MOT it, fit two new tyres and provide a BMW Approved warranty all included in the price of £9800 (with sat nav), or £9495 without. Ifyou search the web you will see this represents excellent value given all the details above.

Well excuse me whilst I prostrate myself and thank the Lord for the honour bestowed upon me, and of course this website! Give me a ruddy break!

I said all that I needed to say in friendly (or so I thought!) communications with North Oxford Garage, and have no intention of entering into a tit-for-tat exchange on here. My only response will be to say that I pointed a BMW Motorrad dealer in the direction of North Oxford's ad for the LT and asked for their guidance. They were obviously aware of the exact particulars and spec and gave me an adjusted retail figure of between £8,000 and £8,300, those figures were therefore my guide. Please consider that fact when you read the disrespectful post above, which gives the false impression that I knew nothing about the bike in question.

Paul W - Given the huge chasm that existed between the sticker price and the guide values given to me, I saw no point in trying to negotiate.

Max - If only you'd advertised the bike on here. My LT search goes on.
