North Wales rideout

My usual biking buddies have other commitments this weekend but I suspect it’s because they think I’m becoming a complete Tosser . Anyway I’m riding my favorite route tomorrow & any other Tossers are welcome to join me.

I call this the 4 Lakes. Starting at the Ponderosa (Llangollen) at 9am for breakfast, down to Bala then its single lane black top over the top to Lake Celyn, onwards to Ffestiniog & down to Lake Trawsfynydd. Ignoring the Police/sportsbike infested road to Dolgellau I head over to the Southern tip of Bala & on to Lake Vyrnwy. Stop for a brew at the café below the dam & back round the lake & through the forests over to Rhosygwalia where the route joins the Tanit valley road. I head back via Oswestry, Whitchurch & Tarporley but by then the funs over & I normally stop for another brew (& cake:D) in Beeston.

I’m sure many of you will know parts or all of this route. It’s more of a Sunday bimble than a drag race, I get as much pleasure from the stunning scenery (worth bringing a camera) as I do from the riding. It’s fine for anyone running road tyres, a good proportion of the roads are single lane tarmac with some cattle grids & a few gates. I don’t hang about on the brief time spent on A roads but with the notorious North Wales Police presence one can’t take the p#ss :augie. All in all it’s a great route & perfect GS territory.

If anyone’s interested let me know.

Love to come along with you:thumb

but my mother would miss her loveing Son ( thats me by the way):)

great route hope the sun is shining for you.:thumb

Looks a great route Tolski but unfortunately tomorrow I'll be taking the swingarm of my 1100 to investigate a gearbox output shaft seal leak

Enjoy your ride and hopefully I'll join you some other time :thumb2

Ah...so I'm not a real Tosser, my buddies were telling the truth, you've all got commitments/loving Mothers etc. :)

Well Mr.Selfish (that'll be me) is going anyway :D

Hopefully see you all (1st time for me) at the Windmill a week on Tuesday?

Beat ya to it this morning...see Ride Reports.

Bet it won`t be as quiet tomorrow. :augie

:D

Yes some of those roads look familiar, great route isn't it? though it's not that much of a secret anymore ;)

I'm not worried about the roads being busy, I've done it on sunny Sundays in the past & still only encountered sheep & Welsh mosquitoes. Only problem is the worry of breaking down on those remote roads, can't see the AA finding you with a recovery vehicle :nenau

Looks like you had a good rideout & the bike looks superb :clap

Tolski....great route which I will try soon in full. Cheers. Couldn't make it Sunday morning (attempting to compensate for absent offspring on Mother's Day) but I managed a cut down version in the afternoon...Ponderosa via World's End, South of Bala to Lake Trawsfynydd then Betws y Coed via Ffestiniog. Quick return via a bit of the A5 then Denbigh Moor. The A543 then the Denbigh-Mold road is always a great brisk run but especially after a few miles on single track roads with the odd gate.

Yes the gates can be a problem especially if you're riding alone, fortunately I passed a couple in a car, I opened, they closed, sorted. Had to wait for them to catch up but there are worse views to look at when you're hanging around :)

Looks like quite a few of you are doing the Wirral egg run on Sunday. I've participated for the last two years but I'm giving it a miss this year. Sent my donation to make me feel better (& smug :D)

So...with 7000 NorthWest bikers converving on the Wirral I'm heading for North Wales again. Anyone up for a rideout?

BTW donations for the egg run appeal can be made to:

Thanks for that Peter. Enjoyable day out except for the diverted traffic, how dare they use that road, I'm setting up a toll booth there this weekend :D

Already planning a route for the next one with the main criteria being...... seriously remote, tossers & sheep only :thumb2
