My Michelin Map of Norway 1:250k arrived yesterday. Makes a huge difference for planning...annotating the must see places/roads etc (The planning is such a big part of it all for me)
Not a bad shout that Davey, should get myself a map, gives me a back up tooMy Michelin Map of Norway 1:250k arrived yesterday. Makes a huge difference for planning...annotating the must see places/roads etc (The planning is such a big part of it all for me)
95 quid for 12 ferries is indeed pretty reasonable, there gonna spank me a grand for the other oneYour trip shouldn't be too bad with you having more defined route/stops etc (ours is over a fair few weeks and with a few walks/hikes/visits it seems to work...put all the places we want to see on the map...draw a route between them. Looked at the ferries yesterday. We need to do about 12 of them and with the pass you use, the total cost is c £95...I expected far more!)
That’s roughly what I paid last august for two bikes and two riders in an outside cabin. It included dinner and breakfast too, albeit only on the outward journey. We weren’t sure what the food would be like and knew there were other dining options on board ship. We did though decide to have both dinner and breakfast on the return as the food was very good.95 quid for 12 ferries is indeed pretty reasonable, there gonna spank me a grand for the other one![]()

Finding vary quite a bit. Hotels, breakfast Inc, some with dinner too between 100 to 180 per night.Following with interest, thinking of doing similar next year too.
How are the accommodation prices looking?
We paid on average 175 euro per night for the both of us. That said, a few places had space for four easily. Pretty much everything booked through Booking.com, like you, I wanted decent secure parking and the ability to cancel for free in case plans changed. One tip, don't stay in Geiranger, it was our priciest night and the worst place we stayed. If you are staying in the area, check out Stryn, tis a lovely little town not far away. Road between the two is nothing short of breathtaking.Finding vary quite a bit. Hotels, breakfast Inc, some with dinner too between 100 to 180 per night.
That’s free cancellation and places with parking.
If we were staying in one place for a few days id probably consider that but they're going to be long days and we're just going to want to get showered and out for a mooch and dinner. Ok its not going to be cheap but the way we see it is its a bucket list trip. Dont really want to spend it cooking.I've obviously not been yet but I'd seriously consider some Airbnbs so you have the option of preparing the odd meal yourselves (You may well do a post trip report and mention how pricey eating is)
We didn’t find eating out to be that expensive, beers though were pretty pricey. My lad lives in Chamonix so he wasn’t as fazed by the prices as I being a Yorkshireman was.If we were staying in one place for a few days id probably consider that but they're going to be long days and we're just going to want to get showered and out for a mooch and dinner. That said, each to their own.
My brother has been to Norway and he said, its not cheap to eat, sort of London prices, bit more maybe. Its drink that really hits the wallet hard.
We're planning a similar trip for 2025 . 3 Auld guys on bikesFantastic meal and octopus don’t go together for me Glenn.
To be honest, whilst I do enjoy a beer, or indeed many beers this trip is going to be early starts and long days. Couple of jars with dinner will be enough for me.
