Costs in 2009 ?

Hi,

Does anybody know what fuel, food and camping/cabin costs are like this year yet please after the slide of the pound ? Thinking of taking a trot up there at the end of June with an Aussie friend of mine but need to know I won't come back like HBOS etc. :augie

Regards,

Mike

Gas is 11 - 12 NOK, depends on were you are and day of the week. Sunday afternoon is the cheapest.
GBP did this morning cost 10,17 NOK
Prices in general has increased 2 - 5% the last year, but I have no way to compare our prices with UK prices. So I can't help you with that.

Allways greet GS's, even if there is only one :augie

Thanks Adam. :thumb2 That is a very helpful start as this cost was the one I was most concerned about.

Glad to hear it. We will be in and around Trondheim at some point probably around 30th Jun/1st July at a guess.
Am back from my holidays then, so I'll probably be at work when you pass by

Ferry Bergen to Aberdeen

Can you please adviese what is the best way to travel from Bergen to Aberdeen (only option I see currently is ferry: Bergen-Lerwick-Aberdeen)?

Don't think there is a ferry from Bergen to Lerwick anymore. If you read some of the other posts here, you'll see that currently there are no ferries between Norway and UK.

I wonder why...
Bad memories? :liv

If we put a cork in the Dover-tunnel, do you think we get a ferry between Norway and GB? :idea

:) Liv.

I'm planning a 2 bike (3 people) trip to Nordkapp next June from Glasgow and so far I've found 3 ferry routes:

Harwich - esbjerg - NK
total miles 2100
ferry cost £450
36hrs total riding time

Newcastle - Amsterdam - NK
total miles 2100
ferry cost £350
36hrs total riding time

Immingham - Gothenburg - NK
total miles 1600
ferry cost £1,300
30hrs total riding time
NOTE: this is on a freight ferry.

We'd rather be riding in Scandi than Europe and hope to take a total of 2 weeks and change.

Any and all suggestions accepted. (planning on camping/B&B mostly)
