I have spent ages on this site trying to figure out what the problem is and not sure.
Lost drive. Horrible crunching noise. Could change gear easily with clutch in but ease clutch out in any gear then horrible noise and no drive.
Took off the final drive, suspecting that. Spins freely. No crunching. Oil filthy.
With the gaiter off and final drive splines back in the universal joint, when I spin the back wheel the splines rotate inside the universal joint.
Does this mean the shaft has to be replaced? If so how? Does it have to go to BMW?
