My 2010 GSA wont start. It has been stood for about 4 months since last started and the battery was dead. Fitted a new battery and although turns over fine wont fire, always fired straight away before. Put more petrol in as the gauge was showing 2 bars. Still no joy and now showing low fuel. Is it the dreaded fuel strip?? It sounds like the fuel pump is priming when ignition turned on. HELP.....

Try a TPS reset procedure. This will let the ecu relearn where the throttle is set.

Once done, crank it over with the throttle wide open to let more air in, but be ready to release it immediately the bike fires up, it’s not wise to thrash an engine from cold before oil pressure has built up properly.

Spay some brake cleaner into the air intake when cranking. If it coughs and splutters a bit trying to start then you know it's fuel related. though if you can hear the fuel pump prime it's unlikely. 2010 shouldn't have a fuel strip. But that wouldn't stop it starting.
Could be the ring antenna round the ignition switch, which is the immobiliser .I think the bikes still turn over when this fails.

Pull an injector that way you can see if it is fuel.
The TPS reset only applies to oilheads.
Sounds silly but if you don`t normally use the kill switch it can be overlooked.

ethanol death fuel..... never leave 10% in over winter - move to BP97 at 5% and always use some form of fuel stabaliser that is properly mixed in and round the pump to the injectors

It may just need a bit more air to clear the cylinders Something like a spurt of old fuel soaked plugs or something silly like that

You could spin it over on half open throttle, to see if it catches? Max 20 to 30 seconds on the starter!!

Then if it doesn't start? Unplug the fuel pump relay connector and spin it over for 30 seconds or so with wide open throttle to vent the cylinders

Reconnect the pump module and Open your throttle about a 1/4 inch and give it a try once the pump has primed ??

I now suspect it could be the FPCU. I have tested this and only get 8 volts when cranking the engine, I belive there should be at least 10 volts?
Can anyone tell me if the symptoms fit my diagnosis? The display shows a fuel warning and bike wont start. This problem appeared after fitting a new battery. Is this just a coincidence? I haven't bypassed the FPCU as I dont want to cut the plug off until I am 99% sure its faulty!!

@Spanglish

Reinstate as it should be

Take an injector out and spin it over and see does it spray a pattern at all ??

The Fuel pump unit usually either fails or works No in betweens

Also there is already a suggestion to give it a SMALL squirt of easy start / flammable brake cleaner in through the air cleaner housing and spin it over to see if it fires up at all

Have you tried that ??

Until you try the suggested methods by people who have been dealing with these bikes for a long long time ??

You are following a path and going down a rabbit hole!

Quite possibly in the wrong direction

Eliminate all possible fail points and that SHOULD give you the correct answer !

Finally got round to having a proper look at it ! No fuel at the injectors. Fuel pump removed and found to be faulty !! Any ideas of where to get a reasonably priced replacement ?

Fuel pump or controller?

I think you can get a generic FP that fits ,

needs a bit of work, do a search on the forum,

failing that its OE or SH from a breakers unit
