Welcome back, I hope that you had a good time riding your 1200. I've been doing the same this past few months ie riding all over Europe main and the eastern part. I have to say that I have nothing but admiration for the beast. She's taken a hammering: 41K, is an ex-BMW off-riding school bike and she's not winged at all. Serviced it myself since 24K (not been in a BMW workshop since then) and I'm no trained mechanic but I can read the superb links and advice on ukgser and a Haynes manual.

Well I had to replace the final drive outer seal (10 min job after reading this site) and cleaning off the gear indication connector behind the swing arm (again informed by this superb site). And that's it!

I suppose that my message is that most of the riders who ride many problem free miles don't bother to post on the site. And I like many others - I hope have been lucky!!

Couldn't be better pleased with the machine and she brings a smile to my face whenever I see/rider her.:thumb2:D

Life's good!!

Likewise, my '07 now done 20k, never been inside a BMW workshop apart from the FPC and EWS recalls and no hiccups including two tours round Europe. Not that many miles I know but it's had it's nose put slightly out of joint by the Airheads! I do think they are a little less problematical without ABS fortunately!

To be honest, I've had issues with most bikes...still love them...and if I have probes with this wee beastie when I get her...don't give a fig... Get her fixed asap and back out into the world... Hate shit, but it happens...love bikes...
