Well as you may remember, I traded my Dak for Flipflys 80. Ive done a bit to it , just tidying really, had the tank and mudguard done and did the side panels myself. a few other bits and pieces and here she is. Just waiting for the dualseat to arrive.:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

There are so many really nice hot conversions around but I wanted to make this as near original as i could. The engine is really sweet.

Looking good

Now why couldn't that lazy, good for nothing son of yours have done that... Hiya Flip :aidan

That looks lovely pops :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

The reason I had to do the swop was to preserve the little g/s and save her from being cut up and turned into a better off road bike. You lot should be thanking me!!!!

I have first dibs on her should pops decide it's not for him.

Single seat should be with ya shortly :thumb Anyone know where to get the right colour vinyl to recover the seat????

Ta guys, Flip, Ive had it from the guy at sherlocks that the proper coloured seat covers are available from BMW. Have to order it through a main agent though. He said they werent expensive either. He also said that the orange colour was discontinued quite early and that black was probably the original colour.
Any of you guys out there know for sure?

My '81 and '83 like yours both had original orange seats, my blue one '82 had a black seat

Proff, Thanks for that, its what I thought ,it was the guy at sherlocks that threw some doubt in. I think I will see if Ocean can order a cover for me.
Do you have any mirrors . Ive two different ones. The left is centre mounted and the right hand one is like the later ones and side mounted. Sherlocks sent one side mounted but it is a bit longer and doesnt suit any better.

Great looking bike Pastyman. I'll look forward to seeing it on the road hopefully, when the weather's better and the Devon and Cornwall crew meet up again.

well done pops.

Saved me a job thats fer sure. :augie havent got the time to mess with other peoples bikes now as every spare moment is polishing time on the harley:(:D

:thumb thats coming along nicely.
i see it has a very rare solo seat and rack and a front forkbrace:eek:
i may have a mirror,so will look at the weekend for you unless you are sorted?

i had read later model single seats were offered in black and blue, maybe in Germany 1986/7 .
wonder if someone like avrolancaster can confirm this?
i was told red seat covers for single set no longer available just on order?

ps you need a rare aux clock and pod to balance the revcounter.and your rt side grip has a hol ein and the brake lever looks bent?
but its loooking soooper

Colt, Many thanks for that. Yes I am looking for a clock and pod ( anyone got one ). I did get a mirror from Sherlocks but it is too long so will have to go back. Would appreciate any help there. There is a hole in the end of the grip where someone cut it out for some reason but I do have the bit(it was glued in) so I can put it back . I think the photo may exagerate any bend in the lever as its not very noticable.
Flipfly has a dual seat which is the one I want to recover in orange. the single shown on the bike is in good condition, but im not sure which one I prefer. The single makes the back of the bike look a bit like the Forth road bridge.:D

I've got one that was recovered by a guy in our village, cost me £25 :augie
not 100% correct but it does me :thumb2

Pop your dual up and we'll do a swap whilst I get yours recovered by same bloke, but make it soon as he is in his 80's :rob

Proff, Thanks thats a very kind offer though I dont need to swop as I have the solo seat.
Ive spoken to Bill at Ocean who has checked their pooter. It shows a re(orange) seat cover available from 86 but he seems to think its the same as the 80 original(bms system) He and I cannot recall any later bikes fitted with red seats.
As Sherlocks had saidthat they had got one from the main agent, I contacted them again. Bit of an off hand bloke insisted that my bike would have had a black seat(said orange was discontinued early) and that it would have had a pattern in the fabric. I described the seat I have which looks identical to yours and he said it should definately be black. and that the ones from BM which do have a pattern could not be fitted to my seat base as the foam pad is different.
This is all very confusing. I would like the seat with the pattern if poss.
proff, c ould I call you and have a chat about this or if anyone else has any experience or a view on it
thanks.:blast

Proffs seat is correct. No pattern. Later ones had a pattern and he's right they probably won't fit the earlier seat base. The black seat is wrong.
