Now this is a proper BMW Oilhead

Found them on Motorworks £417.
It’s very similar, but not quite the same as mine. And I paid £50…

I noticed the old one sitting on a shelf in a guys garage after we’d been trail riding. He didn’t like it and removed it from his GS shortly after he bought it, and I had to force £25 on him to take it away with me. I’m a fan 😎

I used to have a very nice billet aluminium GS length Paralever arm fitted to my Rockster, but when the bike blew up I took it off and it disappeared. :(

Dam back to the research then

I think Bakker make both adjustable and fixed length paralever arms. The following is in Dutch but Google can translate - eg "For various BMW models we make parts to increase the driving comfort. Available are among others: paralever rods (longer, shorter, standard and adjustable), sketch plates/footrests, frame kits, fall protectors, etc."

Spoke to these guys today, very helpful. Thanks Mr C99.

They offer three different lengths of adjustable ones.

Paul Young when you get a mo. Can you measure the one on yours please.

No idea why there’s 3 choices when they are adjustable 🤷‍♂️

Cheers Steve.

I already know that, at its min (current) setting, it’s 325mm. I’ve no idea what the max would be without removing it so you’ll have to guess that one 😉

Realoem will give you the specs of the various different arms that were available on the different models and ISTR the GS model had the shortest option at 365mm

I read/heard something that the reason the R1200GS has the Paralever arm mounted over the left side (as opposed to under the right side) of the swingarm was because one of the Dakar bikes snapped a Paralever arm. The BMW engineers apparantly stated that "it would never happen again", and redesigned the swing-arm to keep the Paralever arm out of harms way.

This was some years ago (20 years ago - when the 1200GS first came out), and may have come from a salesman.....
Bearing in ming the early 1200s had the shittiest paralever and final drive design in all of history….
