Hi, today is new bike day for me....get it home, park it up and gave a bit of lunch, go back in the garage to look over it and find a nut on the floor, directly under the centre stand right hand side.
Does anyone recognise where it might be from please? 14mm across flats.
Bike is 21 reg GSA 1250

Oo fun! Guessing you’ve checked the engine guard?

Most securing points are bolts not nuts other than suspension bolt and adventure pannier joins.

Saying that - looks like you have adventure pannier rails so check all the connecting points on those.

Many years ago my 2005 GS lost a nut such as this one. I was very lucky as it was right next to the bike when I got off for a smoke. Luckily the bike did fall over as the nut was from the stand. I did have a spanner to fit so just put it back on. Weirdly it never came loose again.

Thereby proving you fitted it correctly 👍

Any family members who enjoy a practical joke?

Whilst your measurement doesn't fit the description, it might be worth checking these areas?

HEX NUT WITH PLATE - M12-10-ZNS3

Lifted from an American parts website.

It doesn't show many nuts in those pages by the way, although the main stand doesn't show what attaches it to the frame other than some bushes.

I’d be looking at any aftermarket bolt on stuff, it’s a nylock nut, it doesn’t look very BMW ish

Have you got extra spots or a sound bomb or that kind of thing?

Otherwise, are you sure it’s off the bike and wasn’t just lying around in your garage?

Thank you all for your input.
I think I've found where it might be from.
The top of the frame bolt that goes through the shock absorber.
Great, I'll just screw if back on and tighten to the correct torque...I thought.
If seems the thread is damaged on the bolt, I can't screw the nut on at all.

If will have to go back to the supplier asap.
A great start to new ownership🙄

Glad you found it. Was it a dealer purchase? If so you can have them collect it and make it right. PITA but at least it won’t cost you anything, worth getting them to do a full torque check of the bike before giving it back to you.

You sure that’s not a threaded lug the bolt is screwed into from the other side?

Can someone with a 1200/1250 check for the OP please?

Yes, BMW main dealer.
It's annoying, was hoping to get out over the weekend as the weather is quite good.

Mmmm, maybe barking up the wrong tree with my initial thoughts then.
Thank you Hartley for the photo above, looks the same as mine.
