Thinking about getting an O2 XDA Exec – AKA as a QTEK Jasjar(!) amongst other things. Anyone using one of these? Got any input either good or bad? I would be grateful for any advice about running tomtom on it and using it on the bike.

Thanks in advance:thumb

i have the orange version think its called spv m5000 - my two cents on the device, the keyboard is great, i find it a tad slow as a pda (comparing it to the ipaq hx4700) - it is a bit of a brick when used as a phone but is more functional when used with a blue tooth headset, battery life ok, built in wifi works well, video phone is better than most. it has a 1.3 mp camera which has some interesting features to play with when you are bored - does video too - overall quality not bad. it runs windows mobile 5 which means loads of applications available. takes only sd cards but sandisk(i think) do a 2gb if needed, it has a 3.5mmm audio jack so you can use any standard headphones if you want to use it as an mp3 player- don't plan on purchasing any gps software for it but it is compatible
overall i am happy with it

I picked up an O2 XDA Mini S instead of the Exec. The Exec is just too big to squirrel away. The Mini is a great size, has a slide out keyboard, WiFi and Bluetooth, and runs TomTom v.well.

Just to muddy up the water a bit; there's (yet another) new device coming out in the next few weeks - Mitac Mio A701.

Its a small form factor phone PDA, similar is size to Tobers Mini S I believe but with the added functionality of a Sirf Star III GPS receiver built in. No flippy flappy antenna either - just a little lump on the top left corner.

The only catch is you cant buy it on a contract as none of our Mobile Service Suppliers sell them, so you have to stump up the full asking price of £380

Im thinking of getting one in the next few weeks. Maybe. :)

I am aware that the RAM-HOL-PD3 will hold the exec as we tested it with mobile supplier/systems company (phones4U) and it holds. Its most unlikely to be used in a water/weatherproof enclosure eg, Aquabox/Otterbox/Pelibox).

FYI.. I know of two several motorcycle delivery company's looking at XDA2 solution with an Aquabox (AQ2 is too tight) and AQ1 has yet to be tested with a sliding docking cover and mount.

I just got an O2 Exec too.... I agree with what Unshift says. I was a bit sceptical at the MS system at first, but it does have some really nifty advantages. The keyboard is better than the Nokia 9500, which surprised me. :)

As for GPS usage, I don't know at all, I wouldn't use it on the bike, but I might, if I get a really cheap deal on the software/receiver use it the car, from time to time..

Anyone interested in a Nokia 9500 Communicator..?

Thanks for all the info. Managed to get work to get a "demo" one:) Should be here in a few days. Does look a little large but should be good once I get TT working. Thinking of using one of these for the bike...
