Odd wobble on the centre stand

The centre stand on my LC was straight.

But the centre stand on my triple black was replaced under warranty, as it was bent.

The hardest to get onto the centre-stand was the 2005 model, the 2010 model was slightly easier, this WC is between the two, but really there is bugger all between the three models- I remember there being a lot of whinging about the first 1200 centre-stand in that it was hard for some people to 'get it up', but that has always been the way - some of us have the learning gene and some just whinge that the World is a difficult place for them and that it is always someone else's fault - such people should not ride motorcycles obviously!

I had (previously) an R1100RT. I could put it on the main stand without getting off it.
I am not tall. Did it every time I used for 2 years. When the bike was on the stand, it sat with a few kilos on the rear wheel.
My replacement R1200RT (2005) Is a total bastard to get on and off the mainstand.
It is so bad, I gave up using the mainstand.
Why is it so awful?
Well, BMW in their wisdom, moved the stand rearwards about 50 - 80mm. In addition, they changed the bottom shape of the stand from a cam action as the bike is rolled onto it to a straight sharp angle. The combination of the two changes made the mainstand near enough unuseable.
On circa 2007 GS models they changed the stand location and design back to previous, and they were easy to put onto stand again.

Hmmmm maybe your stand is bent, not something I have noticed on mine - I am in Tempsford at the weekend, you could pop round and we could compare centre-stands.

Don't you have to go behind the bike sheds to do that?

Could it not simply be that you're inadvertently pushing the bike away from you as you lower the stand down, hence the right foot of it touching down first?

Thanks guys. I thought this thread would instantly descend into a massive piss-take but so far so good!

I'm pretty sure the ground is level, and that I'm not pushing or pulling the bike. I put my XT660R on the stand all the time and that doesn't have the same wobble.

I'll look into it a bit more this weekend. I'll find a dead flat bit of ground or maybe head to my dealer for a bacon roll and to try to get a discount off some auxiliary lights and check out their demo bikes.

Engineer is right that as a tight-wad non-subscriber I guess I can't PM people to take up their offers of a comparison. I will therefore have a rummage down the back of the sofa and see if I can scrape together a few quid. If not, is it possible to subscribe for the 3p per day that the site advertises?

One leg of the stand is shorter (or not aligned) than the other. Mine is exactly the same, the bike leans to the left when on level gound.
I put a 6mm piece of steel under the LH stand foot to bring the bike truly normal to the ground. Yes, checked with a spirit level, rather important when checking the 'never the same' oil level.
