odometer failure

Hi just bought a 2005 f650 gs odometer not working, but speedo and trip meter fine. Is this a common problem? Is there a simple fix? Or do i need to get a new set of clocks/

Is it reading '-----' ? Loose battery terminals or duff battery if it is.

Battery works, all electrics working just no reading on odometer, only reads trip meter.

fitted a new battery & still the same
