OEM Timber?

Took the tank off and see that there is a bit of timber in there, fair assumption that this isn't standard. Anyone know what its replacing, doing, functioning as? I've ordered a manual but its not been delivered yet.

Looks like the servo has been removed and someone has crudely braced the bottom of the bracket with that bit of wood

Ah yes the abs was removed. So thats where the ABS would have been? Does it look like the wood is just serving the purpose of a brace instead of the servo?

perhaps they've used it to offset the carbon footprint
 
Perhaps he thought the brakes felt wooden and couldn't see the wood for the servo.
