off-road rideout, but where?

Hi all!

I'd like to do a offroad ride out, or some off road training.

Where could i go? i live in north london ,bt there is no problem to travel more than 100 miles if thereis some good places

ehm... easy off-road, for the hard off road, it0s better to wait 3-4 months

if you have never ridden off-road before then it would be worth starting on some fire-roads (gravel tracks) which will get you used to how the bike handles on routes that are not tarmac. The best place would be to go down to Salisbury Plain for a 1/2 day as there are numerous routes you can take. If you feel a little more adventurous you can venture down some of the byways or tank tracks down there (avoid the deep puddles though!).

Keep an eye out for red flags (i.e. stay away if they are flying). I will probably be going down again in a week or so if you want someone to ride with?

there are plenty of easy off road tracks in herts to start with

If you are looking for training, you could do a lot worse than have a look at what Patsy Quick has to offer...

I know it's orange and not blue and black, and you'll have to pay to hire a bike, but the training they give is excellent, paced and they are using bikes that you can pick up all day long and you just give back at the end of the day.

The guys are right about Salisbury Plains, its great around here, but there's nothing to beat good instruction. If you are down this want and want a guide (not an instructor) pm me, I'm more than happy to show you some of the routes.

I've just moved back to the UK from France, have a Yamaha Tenere here and should be bringing my X Challenge back from France during September.

You can always sign up with the local chapter of the Trail Riders Fellowship and get access to marked up topo maps of your area and also ride-outs suitable to your level.

for the moment i'm lookin for fire road because my tyres are not in good condition, but soon i'll change it and i'll try to do something harder!

I can't pay an offroad course, because i'm planning a travel, and i can't spend money for a course. but i think i culd be able to improve my offroad abilities in one year

You could always come out wioth us on a Cotswolds ride out - easy trails and some introduction training first to cover off the basics and gain a little more confidence before hitting the trails. It's about a 100 miles so just within your range ;-)

Sorry, I don't think that I will be able to make either this or the next weekend as just starting back at work
Maybe meet up in the future.
Although I come from Hertfordshire I don't know too many of the green lanes so we would need somebody to show us around.
Maybe a good idea to go on one of Wreford Miles rideouts or hook up with the local TRF, they meet in Welwyn Garden City.
