As rumoured elsewhere... This is, I believe, the first official word on the subject.

30.8.2012 - BMW Motorrad will be presenting a world premiere at INTERMOT:

the successor model to the BMW R 1200 GS

The "BMW GS" concept has embodied riding pleasure and the desire for adventure for over 30 years. The unique integrated concept of the big travel enduro bike with boxer engine, complete with its authentic charm and a powerful, high-torque engine, is loved by legions of motorcycle fans all over the world. BMW now begins a whole new chapter in GS history: the most popular travel enduro in the world has been brought to perfection.

We therefore cordially invite all press representatives who will be attending the INTERMOT press day to come to the BMW Motorrad press conference.

"including the new BMW F 700 GS and the new BMW HP4"

No RT yet, but that's ok, I'll let the GS beta testers have a go first :thumb2

In all of the rumours I've never heard much talk of an Adventure model.....only that this model will cover both specification requirements.

It will be interesting to know if there will be an adventure version on the horizon.

There will definitely be an Adventure model I reckon, it accounts for too many sales not to and it only involves a few mods/tweaks here and there from the standard bike.

I'll test ride the new one as I did the twin cam but I can't imagine it'll be that much different from my well sorted 2009 bike to ride to justify a stupid amount of money to 'trade up'

From what I've heard the adventure will arrive after the GS - like the overlap between the 1150 Adventure and the 1200GS years.

Now to go off and research how you sorted your 2009 bike :)

Who'll be first to get it remapped, that will make interesting reading :P

Now, if I was going to be controversial I might suggest BMW themselves for the first Journalist test drives.

But that would be me being cheeky :P

I've a hardly used 2010 GSA (due to an accident), and although I'll no doubt drool over the Adventure model when it comes out, I really don't have the disposable income this time around to justify the 'trade up' cost.

Before I'd have made the funds available :augie but with it likely to cost £15/16k+ all spec'ed up its hard to warrant the depreciation on a hardly used 2/3 year old bike.

I'm sure the bike will do well, and sell, and I'll certainly drool...but the real world has come to a lot of us bikers recently.

So have BMW officially changed from their normal nomenclature and named it the GS1250R instead of the R1250GS?

dealers going to Munich in early October to see the finished bike. it will be at the NEC I was told. The GS Adventurer will continue in its existing format for 2013.:rob
