I fitted a RAM mount to the offside handlebar of my 02 R1150GS, just next to the brake fluid reservoir. I was very careful passing the U clamp between the handlebar and the cables exiting the R/H grip assembly - there seemed to be plenty of room - but now the heated grip has stopped working - offside only.

Coincidence, or have I :GS:GS:GS:GSed it up? If so, can anyone suggest a remedy - I've got the bike booked in a t Rydales anyway this Friday but a 'no cost' option would be gratefully received!!

The wiggley Amps have escaped!

Not sure how it works but compared to conventional after market heated grips there must be some way of internally connecting power to the moveable grip that you have disturbed.

Have you tried removing the clamp again maybe slight distortion of the bar has caused the contacts to missalign. Try and slacken the clamp off slightly or rotate to a different angle of contact!

Heated grip

Your wires run inside your handlebars and exit at the ends,I don't think moving the clamps will make any difference.Did you take the two small grub screws out that hold your grip to the bars?Have you twisted your grip or tried pulling it off the end of the bars without pulling the slack though the hole between your clamps. The wires are very easy to break from the end of the grips if you don't do this.Andy

Hi Andy,

No I've not touched the grip assembly at all, have to confess that I didn't even know that the wires went inside the handlebars ... if that's the case then the RAM mount would not have disturbed the circuitry ...

The problem may lie elsewhere, so I think Rydales will have to sort this out!!
