Right, still relatively new to the GS and been a bit of a muppet.
Did what seems to be the new boy thing and panicked over the oil level a fair way from home, end result accidentally overfilled. Looking on here not a real problem, just need to drain a bit, no worries.
BUT tried to be clever and take a short cut rather than drain the oil and start again,

accidentally removed the bolt on the left hand pot which apparently holds the cam chain guide blade - having now consulted the book which I should have got to start with - and it will not go back in.
HELP - looking at the gospel according to Haynes you need to split the engine to fiddle around with the chain. Can anyone advise on if the bolt can be got back in some other way or is it major surgery time? The engine has not been turned over since the bolt was removed.
