I feel dirty, having had the misfortune of test riding the S1000XR today.

Although open minded, I didn't really expect to like an IL4 that much. How very wrong was l?

I will resist the urge to largely regurgitate what others have already said, apart from the alleged bar vibes situation that is. Whilst there were some vibes there, I personally did not find it particularly intrusive.

If I had this bike I would be in constant fear for my licence...

Endorsement from a riding GOD

I popped into my new local Kawasaki dealer in Grantham, that also has a cafe, a couple of days ago, for a coffee.
I guy came over and started asking about my XR and asked how I was getting on with it.
I eagerly expounded its many virtues explaining that it was very very fast and it had 160BHP, that on U-Tube I'd seen it more than hold it own against R1s and Fireblades on a track day, explaining that obviously that was with a much more accomplished rider than myself. I told him how happy I was with it and that I reckoned that it was a bit of an older mans sport bike.
He said that he must be getting old then, because he REALLY liked it.
I thanked him for his interest and left.
It was on the way home that I thought that I sort of recognised him.
I got home and Googled some photos and confirmed I'd been chatting to Chris Walker:bow
He came over a really nice, genuine guy and didn't even tell me what a prat I was being telling him stats about my bike and telling him how fast it was. :blast
But he did say that he REALLY liked it and I didn't get the impression that he is the type to bother blowing smoke up my arse......he doesn't need to.

So if it good enough for Chris Walker maybe you should get one?

Living in Grantham I have been into the Kawasaki shop a few times. The first was the Monday after the opening weekend. Like yourself it was only riding home it dawned on me that it was the man himself I had been chatting to. Talking about a Vulcan-S of all things!

Anybody know the internal dimensions of the XR top box (the "will I get a laptop in there for work" question)?

Also, out of curiosity, what average tank range are you guys getting in real world riding??

The best story is the one when Oz coppers caught a guy speeding on the Great Ocean road wearing a yellow lid.
They pulled him over and asked him "who do you think you are Joey Dunlop"

They are fantastic bikes.....but in real world I think they are excessive in costing. I demo'd one and loved it, however at 14K it's not happening, so I bought a tracer.

Picked it up Saturday and was promptly held up in the corners by a guy on a s1000rr til he blitzed me on the straights.

I did 280 miles yesterday and was getting 43 mpg and that wasn't hanging about. I reckon 200 miles to the tank is easily achievable even though the range indicator never says more than 155

I get 155 with no problem and there is always plenty still in the tank when I fill up. I get 42 to 52 mpg, 52mpg was on a run to the south coast while running in, so I was just riding it like I'd ride my GS.

Someone on here said that the GS1200LC top boxes fit straight on.

I am getting on average 45 mpg and I refill at about 160 miles when the range left on the 'puter indicates 35-40 miles left.

As said after a fill up the range left maxes out at 155 and doesn't move for ages. Needs a software update me thinks?
