Oh Dear.... Too many choices. Whatdasay

No, a flat twin is not the ticket, neither is the HP2 which was on the shopping list.

As for Ducs, they have changed a lot over the last 3 years. Minoli made sure that quality was as important as performance and sexiness. The new 1100 engine needs a revision every 12-15K now, the guarantee is a full 1 year on 2nd hand 1100 engines.

One of the guys I ride with has a Ducati 999, whose engine blew up in just over a year. He's taken it to a Ducati specialist in Miami who tells him that machining tolerances in Ducatis are the worst he's seen on any of the performance bikes (Jap bikes are still the best, except for Suzuki).

And let's not forget the most important reason to do for Ducati...... it' s a DUCATI!!! :aidan

Then again, some would say that's the best reason NOT to buy one. :augie

I know a few blokes, some even on this forum, that have bought BMW GSs to have them die a sudden death with hours of buying them. Does that mean that we should buy BMW??

Sorry Andrew, that kind of reasoning doesn't make sense. It used to be so with Ducati, since they are high performance machines, but that's no longer the case...

If anything, it means we shouldn't be buying BMW's. :augie

What happened to this fellow's 999 isn't decades old news; it happened only last year. Ducati's didn't fall apart because they were high performance machines, but because they were poorly designed and built. Reportedly, new equipment purchased with funding from the Texas Pacific Group improved things considerably, but the jury is still out with respect to their reliability. If that's not a concern to you, then by all means go ahead and buy one. I was merely stating my reason for avoiding the brand.

Go for it!

I've ridden the 'Strada and that new 1100 TS motor is fantastic. One of the nicest engines in the world :thumb

Yeah.. problem is the engine is in both the Strada and the Hyper...

But she's very sweet looking on that photo... ahhh bike porn..:jibber

That's what the sales rep said. Great performance, but with my size, I'd be quickly tired.

I've thought of the Duke, but the KTM garage is too far for me (in fact I need to trailer in my LC4), but it's still an option. The triple is too much for me to handle, I know I'll kill myself.

I'm talking about the Street/i] Triple, not the Speed Triple.

The new Street Triple has the 675 engine from the Daytona.I had the latter last year and it was a stunning bike with a brilliant engine.

If i didn't already have the SD I would be tempted to get the Street Trip.

They are 'only' £5500 ish OTR.

The problem with mine was electrical and Italy kept sending out the wrong part.

Very tempted but also like the new benelli Tre-K too!

In that case, get the one that keeps you awake at night ;)

Very, very sexy.... too bad that one is not available, but it doesn't matter.

Problem on the Hypermotard side, is that I got the original design drawing of the motard, which I won on the Ducati/Rider charity action..... that hangs on my wall.... not a strada :(

Sounds like your mind is made up.

Nope. It's gonna be the test ride that'll do that, plus SWMBO....plus sales rep.... plus bank officer .... plus moon position....oh hell... I just don't know. Maybe I should just buy a moped.

I liked the HM Ducati, but not enough to trade my KTM 950SM . Try one of those as well, its my loony bike and brings a smile on every outing. the Multistrada doesn't do it for me , if it has to be any ducati it has to be the HM .Haven't seen many on the road yet though? Good luck with your choice of Bike!!:thumb
