Surely Ohlins have instructions on what the dealer / mechanic needs to do with the ESA fault codes.
Maybe put a sticker on the motronic connector

I purchased a GS that had Ohlins Mechatronic. Oh yes it is indeed lovely.
Came up against the same problem as you but do not fear, a great solution is at hand.
I contacted Kais http://www.kais-ohlins.co.uk/ who were the origainl fitters. Very helpful bunch.
They contacted Ohlins. I recieved FOC a new control unit and seperate control screen which takes all suspension control away from BMW. I admit having it on the handlebar is slightly preferable but I put it with dual lock to the right of the main clocks unit and it work great.
I only had to pay for a couple of hours of installaion. I am very impressed that Ohlins totally came ot the table on this one, even though I was not the orginal purchaser and the system was about 3 years old.
