Oil experience

The last thing I want to do is start another elongated oil thread, I think we've all seen enough of them, however I thought I would share my experience with a new oil and its impact on my 2016 GSA. I had read a lot about Motul 7100 4T and thought I would give it a go. Whatever one's views on oil it has made quite a difference to the engine noise by quietening it down and a significant difference to the gearchange, with clutch and GSAP. Don't get me wrong, it was OK to start with but now it's much smoother with noticeably less clutch drag. Take what you will from that but I'm happy.

In my endeavor to quieten the engine, I have done a hilltop and changed the spark plugs. Has made a positive impact. The oil was the next on the list, so thanks for the suggestion, Yeah, no harm in trying out a new engine oil.

What mileage on your 2016 GSA? Which service did you change to this oil?

Only 3000. I have changed between services. Off to Hilltop in March. What plugs did you use?

I used the NGK LMAR9AI-8. Best to change the spark plugs after a Hilltop otherwise the lean mixture can foul it up pretty quickly.

Go on; don't hold back on the oil front

I bought boxes of Motul 7100 4L when Hein Gericke Germany were doing a special deal so oil changes every 2000 miles.

Yes I've been using it for the past 3 changes, noticed same as you so been using it it's good oil. Not sure if it's any quieter but definitely made the gears shift smoother.

What is you feedback concerning NGK LMAR9AI-8 on your GSA ? no issue ? do you know why it is not recommended for our R1200GSA ? I asked NGK but no technical information about why :-(
