Got the bike out and went for a ride this morning and on returning home i noticed a teaspoon amount of oil around the oil filler plug.
The plug is in correctly, as is the rest of it...
Any thoughts on what this might be. Do i need a new lot!!
Cheers

oh 1150 gs is it

Hi there. I've had the same thing on my 1150gsa.. All i needed to do was open it up ,and clean the 'O' ring and put it back in again, easy peasy.
Worst case i expect might be a new 'O' ring.

Works for me too every time, 60k miles now and still on the original 'O' ring, just remove the filler plug and give it and the seat in the rocker cover a good wipe with a cloth.

If that doesn't work it may be a suspect 'O' ring or the worse case scenario may be a blocked crankcase breather.

My bike doesn't use oil between changes. So i've fitted a R/H rocker cover to the L/H side.

No leaks. :D

I take it the engines "sealed for life"?, feeling a bit dim today but how do you change the oil if not by inverting the bike?. (means turn it up sidedown).

how the hell doesnt your bike use oil Steptoe???

I thought the engines were designed to burn a small amount of oil to lengthen life???

surely if the manual suggests that the engine uses oil then there is something wrong???

My 1100 used to use about a liter every 1000 miles. I took it to Steptoe and he did a fix.

5 years later and its never used a bit other than normal oil changes. :nenau

It uses oil, but not enough to worry about topping it up inbetween oil changes.

Are you suggesting i worry if the engine doesn't use oil . :nenau What else do you worry about in life. :augie
