BMW charge a silly £40 odd for the oil filter socket and the American one is fairly similar by the time you add freight, duty, vat etc. Strap wrenches will remove the filter but not torque it back up. So I've been looking for a sensibly priced tool which will do the job and I've found one at last. Did a filter change today and it worked perfectly.
The tool is a heavy pressed steel socket to fit half inch torque wrench item no 1493/M from Beta tools. I got mine for £14 from Hayley Bearings in Newport S Wales 01633280088.
