OIL FILTER STUCK ON TIGHT

So to get my head around this are you saying that with the bike in front of me and the front wheel to my left that I should be turning the filter anti clockwise ?

That all depends what side of the bike you're standing.

Right, I have now taken the exhaust off to get better access to the top of the fitler heated it up with a heat gun and it still won't budge.

This surely can't be right to be this hard to remove, I don't mind your piss taking after I have got it but it is help I need at the moment

You never said left or right - you just posted "move the ratchett towards the front wheel of the bike"

Dremel. Cut along from the outer edge to the thread in the center. Or maybe cut a section of the outer edge out, and pulling the rubber seal away. It could be the filter was put in dry without oiling the rubber sealing ring on the filter.

Nope, just your reply like a voice shouting from the back "move it in the direction of the front wheel" with an obtuse direction. Same any other person who skimmed through the thread might do.

You should have quoted him in your post to make the point clear to anyone else who may not know one end of a ratchett from another. Clears up any possible confusion and saves having to backtrack on every post read.

No, you don't say Here's a link to post 15 so you don't have to trouble yourself going back a page. Might be a good idea to change your bait aswell cos it still stinks And if they don't know one end of a ratchet from the other they probably shouldn't be using one.

Steptoe, thank you I cut very carefully with the dremel from the outside to about where the ridge is were the rubber seal is prized it down so that I could get a better contact with the punch and after about 5 minutes it started to move I still had to use the punch and hammer to tap it also most to the end, and the thread is not cross threaded.

So now I will re fit everything back exhaust, etc what I thought was going to be a 30 minute job has taken most of my weekend up. AND I WON'T FORGET TO PUT FRESH OIL IN

Yep, I should have known that it was not going to go alright when one of the bolts snapped off taking the sump guard off, which is now sitting in my garage
