Oh Sh*t

Bikes parked up at work and I've just noticed oil leaking from the final drive. Top wack a tea spoon full. It initially appears to be coming from around the black centre hub whole ring and running down to the drain plug where it's dripping on to the wheel:(:(

Am I about to experience the dreaded final drive failure and what's the consensus that it'll make it to the dealers about 25 miles away before any significant damage occurs to me or the bike:eek::eek:

I'd ring them first to see what they can / will do about it.
But if they're anything like Pidcocks Long Eaton, they'll just shine you on or ask £980 for a new one. Unless it's still covered by warranty, then they get paid anyway by BMW.
I don't think it'll cause too much damage that short distance, but they may collect.

If it's the outer seal on RHS then easy fix. If inner seal behind brake disc, seek assistance.

Little more info and how to guide would be useful for the outer seal have a feeling mines on it way out, tiny amout of oily reside circling the black plastic bit on RHS each time I clean the bike

Wipe around the inside of the seal lip by pushing the corner of an A4 sheet of paper under the seal. Worked for me when I had a leaking seal whilst living in Australia. Stopped the leak in its tracks, thin film of dirt got in there.
