Would appreciate someone letting me know what the pipe arrowed in the pic is for and should it be dripping oil? It's only a very small amount but I don't know what the pipe is for and Mr Haynes' manual hasn't been very forthcoming with info on this. The bike is a 2006 R1200GS.
Thanks.

Overflow from bottom of airbox I think.

I'm sure to be corrected, if wrong.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought the pipe was some sort of breather pipe or overflow as you say but the liquid feels oily so not sure if it's something for me to worry about.

The crankcases feedback to the airbox, and there's a small drain point for excess oil which isnt reburnt in engine.

Always worth blowing through drain point with compressed air when you replace filter. Ensurers there's no blockages, not normally part of a service but most good garages do it as a matter of course.

Thanks fellas. Breather pipe so nothing to worry about. How about the oily fluid? Any ideas on what that might be?

As above - looks like either the tank breather or the fuel filler neck drain.
The filler neck drain vents water which collects around the filler (and spilled fuel from filling).

The oily liquid could be either fuel or water (or cleaning products / ACF50 washed off the tank)?

Oil breathers / drains use much larger bore tubing than this and don't drain to the ground on modern bikes (specifically forbidden by construction and use regs these days). Now if you were talking about an Ironhead Harley...

Thanks Matt.

Well it's definitely not ACF50 as I've never used it on the bike but appreciate the info.

My guess would be fuel - partially evaporated petrol goes a bit 'oily'.
