Oil leaking from filler cap

It's fine

By what standards?

Replace it.....they are £1.15 from Motorworks.

FWIW, mine was blowing like this last week.......just a dribble, and a bit of gas coming out when the recess was full of water after heavy rain, so I got a couple of spares (with a few tank rings and stuff as well) and whacked it on......

The fit felt instantly better, and required a positive push down to seal and turn the plug, rather than kind of just sitting in the hole waiting to be turned to lock.

Try a new one.......what have you got to lose?

BTW, I have no idea what size it is......it certainly isn't a standard metric size that comes in a mega box of professional assorted o ring sizes, but the Motorworks one did the job instantly :thumb2

Oil plug O-ring 18x4 mm

O-ring under the plastic base (oil cap holder)
25x3,54 mm

In any specialized O-ring shop.

They are not so cheap anyway.
In Finland in an O-ring shop 3.20 £ together.

Useful info :thumb2

I'm going to speak to our guy tomorrow.....nuts, bolts, washers, tubing, o rings and tubing supplier.....

If he has them, they'll be pennies each....that plus a stamp and I reckon we can get them out for practically naff all :clap

Over 100,000 miles on my two 1150's .... The cap, the o ring and the seating for them on the rocker cover want to be clean & dry :thumb

Absolutely clean & dry ....

Mine's always been moistly lubricated and warm Micky. :nenau

Must be your age buddy :thumb

But I have to clean & dry it before I put it away .... cos it's always well lubricated too ;)

:beerjug:

If you manage you keep yours dry and clean, you obviously don't use it enough :thumb2

Micky, don't go riding with a dry ring :rob

:augie

To throw my five-penneth in, I would also check the engine breather pipe.

I'm new to Boxers but I do have a lot of experience with air-cooled motors running large pistons. The internal crankcase pressures can be considerable and this pressure will always find the easiest way out.

There are two oil filler O rings, the other is on the oil cap holder.

Just noticed that oil is blowing out of filler cap ,started yesterday
Oil bubbles out and trickles down it's a 1150 adv 52 reg 54k miles

I found that the O ring needed cleaning rather than replacing. Pop out the plastic seat with a small screwdriver- there is a tab towards the rear. Lots of grit and grime around there was breaking the seal. Take the O ring off and give everything a thorough clean. 2 minute job.

Thanks for posting this diagram... I had no idea there was an oring under the filler seat.... most helpful...now to get the right size
