The Oil warning light only comes on when damage is done -
Has anyone fitted an Oil Pressure Guage?
Details of kit and fitting wanted please

There was a thread on here a couple of months ago showing a gauge that was fed from the oil pressure warning light hole.

I think it was Lilith that fitted one after one of her disasters.

I'll have a hunt around (unless some kind soul can remember where it is).

Bob.

Here you go, the temporary gauge fitted. Not much good as an everyday gauge but superb as a diagnostic tool.

This set up was put together by my local Pirtek shop.

Good Luck

Cheers Lility - look just right for a check - I'll have a sniff round Pirtek for a similar set-up

I seem to remember something on an American site, possibly sorebums, where a different oil pressure switch was fitted. This one would come on when the pressure dropped to about 27 psi, if I remember correctly ,rather that the 7 psi as set by BM. This of course meant that the engine was not knackered by the time the light came on. Must admit, a pressure gauge would be a very useful addition. surely a banjo fitting, copper pipe and gauge shouldnt be tooo difficult ?:augie

Seem to remember reading somwhere that the siteing of the pressure gauge pick-up is critical, otherwise it's a waist of time and money.
Safe riding Karl.

Surely the critical place to take-off is the current oil pressure switch location?

IMHO, if the oil light come's on whilst the engine is running it's a nano second and the engine is history. Not the brightest of place's. Think I read the best place was the oil filter area (not sure it was there though). But in any case it was'nt where the oil pressure switch is, too far up-stream.

I'll try and find the thread, it was quite lengthy.
Safe riding Karl.

Got guage from Pirtec - fitted and showing 5 bar - 75 psi when riding - looks like good oil pressure so quite reassured.
Thanks Michele
