After reading up on various articles on the site about the amount of oil required for an oil change on my 2004 FD I got confused as to whether it should be 250ml, 220ml, 200ml, or 180ml.
I've read all four figures on various psosts. So I called Bahnstormers service dept and they say 250ml. This does seem to fly in the face of what everyone else is saying. So have they got it wrong or does the 2004 still need 250ml and subsequent models need less?

Cheers

Intial fill is 200ml. 180ml should be put in after an oil change. The oil must be changed every 12,000mls or every 2yrs

Mines a 2004. I drained the FD and then added 220ml of SAF-XO at the last change in December. No problems since. Bikes ridden daily:nenau

When I had previously added 250ml I caused a leak to the FD due to overpressure when it got hot.

By all means add 250ml, but if it then leaks on a hot day whilst riding you'll know why.

I've been told anecdotally (in other from words a friend of a friend) that the refill quantity is now 180 ml. There have been a few recent threads on this subject here, including a link to advrider, where the matter was discussed at enormous length. I used 220 ml when I changed the outer oil seal and it leaked. The dealer who supplied the seal sent me another which was OK for 200 miles and has weeped for the last thousand or so. They made no mention of oil quantity when I phoned to enquire why the first seal leaked.

I read lots of the threads both here and the on on Advrider, but they talk of 2005 models onwards, there was no mention of the 2004 model. I'm tempted to compromise and use 200ml but just thought I'd ask in case anyone thought the 2004 was a different case altogether.
Thanks guys
