Oil temperature when riding on heavy rain

May I call for your wisdom on how to check the oil temperature sensor? E.g. what impedance should it present at 10 or 20 degrees? Other method?

Don't waste your life. it's working normally.

Thanks Steptoe,

My baby is my life!!! :hug She deserves all the caring she can get!
Besides, I am just about to head to the south of europe on my GS, so I want to make sure nothing bad happens on the way there :mmmm

Unplug all the warning lights, then you'll have nothing to look at and worry over unneccesarily.

Fancy that!

I was on the A12 through Essex on Sunday too!
Torrential rain and only 2 bars on the temp guage...new bike to me so did wonder a bit!

"normal" on an 1150 is 5 bars. 6 in very hot ambient temps/traffic.

never heard of one running consistently at 2 bars. others may know different. i would suspect the temperature sender.

Thank you cookie......all this talk of 'two bars' had me worried.

Just to add a bit more; in my case mentioned above, as Steptoe has said, it was a 'sudden downpour'; like someone had tipped half the Atlantic on the M6. I wasn't thinking of water going through the oil cooler/radiator, just all of the spray going directly on to the cylinder heads. It even cooled the down-pipes enough for them to show wet! Once out of the rain and a few miles on, it climbed back up to the nor,al 4/5 bars. Never noticed it before, never happened since. I'll watch out the next time I hit such a downpour, which shouldn't be long up here...

Dave.
