Ha! Now I've got your attention...

No, I'm to going to start a long thread about oil types.

I was just wondering what oil does BMW reccomend for the LC?
I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Is it any different to the old 1150? (straight forward 20w50 mineral was what I used...)

I suppose synthetic needs to be carefully thought through due to the wet clutch.

Ta,

Mike

I am visiting friends in Stroud at the weekend perhaps I can come round and show you the error of your ways :D

I would RTFM if I had one!

Mine is now delayed until 2nd week in July.
Bugger it, at this rate, I'll get my LC just as summer ends!

I was just wondering, that's all...
Thanks for the responses...

I knew I'd be lighting someone's fuse by putting "Oil" in the title...

And I've just sold the R1200R to a really nice bloke from Kent wo is upgrading from a 23 year old h2 750 two smoke.
He thought it was time to get one of those slow BMW things to retire with.
He's in for a very pleasant shock....

I'm relegated to my winter hack K1200rs till the LC arrives.
Not a bad place to be, i suppose.

Checking the old receipts my 1200 was on Castrol 20/50 for the first two services then 10/50 fully synthetic after that, which makes sense to me because I have been told or read something along the lines of fully synthetic oil does not allow a new engine to "bed in" as the bedding in process involves a little wear removing the microscopic ridges left by machining.
What I do know is my bike does not require an oil top up between services.

GS lc oil

Hi Mike
I spoke to the dealer today and he said you must use 5w 40 fully synthetic as it works best with the slipper clutch BMW recommends Castrol Power 1 5w 40 he was adamant that you should not use any thing else or you will have gear change problems. my was serviced today and has the Castrol oil

hope this helps Terry

When did you order yours? I've been told week 23 for mine, which is just over a month (from order) delivery. I hope the BMW computer tells the truth.
