Anyone know where I can buy 20w50 mineral oil in Edinburgh or Fife? I need to get some on the way home tonight and wont have time to head out to Motorrad East. Hein Gericke don't have it, and neither do Halfords or Scott Murray in Dunfermline.:nenau

I got mine from the local car autofactors - it was cheap Comma stuff, but I only wanted a litre.

Hit the Yellow Pages and get phoning around...

Wilkinsons do it if you have a shop near you.

That's where I got mine. Suspiciously cheap but great for running in top ups. Now using semi synth after the 12K service so I use what was left of the wilko mineral to top up my lawn mower which I suspect is a more technologically advanced motor :thumb

Thanks guys. I did eventually get away from work early and make it out to Motorrad East. They told me to use Putloline 20w50 semi synth? Which I did. They said it is used in all bikes which come in.:nenau I stuck it in on the premise that they know more than me and that this oil is better than no oil!!

Does this sound right?

Hi,

Are you sure Halford's don't have their own Mineral 20-50, its in a 5 ltr retro metal can at 13.99/5 ltrs. Its a good quality 2-50 mineral oil.

Regards
Simon

I've been trying to find Castrol GP 20/50 'cos it's BMW's recommended oil now, and is in my GS now after last service - And it's rocking horse poo!
I've found some, eventually, but it only comes in 1L packs at upto £8 a throw, or 25L drums (which are always "unavailable") so no price quotable.

So that's approaching £40 for 5L of straight mineral oil, That can't be right?
Can it?

Phil

Try OPIE OILS online shop, cheaper than you've quoted above.

I cheated and asked the wife to pick me up some 20W50 when she filled the car up wi petrol, i had looked all over for some.
She came back wi 1ltr Total Quartz 300 20W50 mineral. She comes in so handy sometimes bless her.

mine needed a top-up.

i see what people mean now - halfords 20w50 does indeed come in an old school tin and is a snip at 14 quid for 5 litres.

is it really the same though?
