has anybody fitted an r1150 engine in a airhead or custom frame? I cant afford a hp2, thinkn of making one as a project, I was going for an airhead, just thought do something more modern.

crazy,

if you have a airhead, depending which one, do a cafe racer conversion,
if you search you will find, some stunning bikes.

the standard airhead frame is a bendy POS that can't handle the meagre horsepower of the R100. would be "interesting" with twice the poke :augie

dont bother with the frame one of the dutch bespoke manufacturers (bakker, baaker sounds like that or something) make a headstock subframe that bolts to the front of the engine to convert it to standard tele forks. i have seen pictures but cant find you a link.

I was only looking for ideas, Ive been offered a r1150 engine and gearbox for a good price, was thinking of a project, think I'll leave it now................

if you got an engine and gearbox then why not have ago, I mean whats the worst that could happen....

you'll still have an engine and gearbox.

I've got a spare rear wheel for an 1150 if that helps (I'll need a hunderd quid for it to buy some more beer)

you could go the whole hog and send the engine to scriminger who (i believe) can convert an oilhead from fuel injection to carbed!!

how exciting is that?

You know Proff is going to kill you, don't you?

If it's a Paralever your chopping up he'll give you a hand.

What a strange thing to want to do. I reckon a good modification would be to ditch the fecking awful engine out of one of those new GS800's and fit an airhead engine in it to make a proper GS.

Do what you want, its your money.
At the end we will either be amazed at such a machine and wonder why they never mad such a bike or have a bloody good laugh.
And as Lo IQ said "if you got an engine and gearbox then why not have ago, I mean whats the worst that could happen....you'll still have an engine and gearbox."

The engineering and finish may be right but I'm sorry that is just SO WRONG !

Drum brakes+ hexhead engine=a whole lot of potential trouble.

It's bizarre seeing that engine with that shaft too, the total opposite of what you expect (plenty of airheads fitted with 11xx FD's)

no thanks :blast
