Old men starting trial riding ? ? ?

I had an Airoh Urban, which Denise now wears, so I have bought a Nau. Try them on first though, as the sizes seem to differ wildly, the Nau especially seem small for its stated sizes.
Would have loved to be able to justify an Arai or a Shoei.

I bought a new Trials helmet yesterday. Walked into Albion Motorcycles in Exeter and they had huge range. First one I picked up looked good, fitted perfectly and was very comfortable and light. The price tag was only £49 which took me by surprise as I was expecting a lot more.:) A Torx model.

Hopefully, I will try it out this afternoon in my woods. My Aprilia is now running nicely thanks to my expert mechanic fettling the carb for me. Thanks Proff :)

Ooh ta, looking for an open face and going to Exeter tomorrow so I'll take a look in there :thumb2

Went out with Lebowski, Pete and Wes to an awesome playgound again yesterday, £13.00 for 4 hours unlimited space and play.
Forgot my camera, so not much to show for it.

Was a stunning day, with the playpen drying as the day went on, and by 2pm when they shut shop, it was perfect riding.

In other news, I dragged out a pair of light weight riding trousers/pants that I used when I still had the Aprilia as a green lane bike, still fit me, so one less thing to buy.

Friday also saw me buy a trials helmet.

I went for the NAU "Eve of Destruction" design in black.
Price was great @ £64.00 from a trials outlet.
They also do the "Zona" design at £55.00 which is a damn good price.
All the NAU designs are applied to the same basic helmet, so for me the latest one which is "Overkill" but priced at £85.00 everywhere you look, shops and online is not going to make a difference and more than I was prepared to spend.

Need to get some "trials gloves" then I am sorted for kit :)

Hopefully delivery on Tuesday.

I have 2 first interviews for jobs on Monday and Wednesday, so fingers crossed something delivers, because then I can proceed and buy a bike without any guilt feelings.

I did my first ever trial today complete with brand new trials helmet and boots and they must have worked because I got massive scores.
Some people scored pathetic zeros and ones in the sections but I managed to fill my card, completely, with threes and fives so I must have won.
To say this game is difficult is a bit of an understatement.
I lie, it's a massive understatement.
But a lot of fun.

This was at yesterday's Trial:eek::eek:

Good on you, Hustler...................cheap fun for £10................are you aching today:augie

Steve,Rob,Gav & Nick all did their 1st trial yesterday. Steve used compete years ago but the rest are all novices.
Stupid sods looks like there will be a few aching limbs back at work

Any pics of the trial?
Did you get any cleans?......................it can only get better:thumb2

No pics, sorry, although suspect a few will appear on their website in due course.
No cleans whatsoever I'm afraid.
When I put a foot down I can't get back on the pegs so tend to paddle my way round after that.
And I can't ride slowly enough, or do tight turns, or get over logs to name just a few minor technique problems.
Some practice sorely needed.
But it will get better.
Thanks Johnny.

When I put a foot down I can't get back on the pegs so tend to paddle my way round after that. That's a stamina thing and leg exercises help

And I can't ride slowly enough, or do tight turns, or get over logs to name just a few minor technique problems.

Just try pootling around on flat ground to help slow riding.

Tight Turns - practice using throttle, clutch and rear brake only............when your throttle control improves, introduce covering front brake too

Obstacles like logs, intially lift the wheel with a bit of oomph and as you crest the top, shut off and rollover the top

Some practice sorely needed. Sounds like it

Come down to the UKGSER Trial weekend in May @ Sid's place and I'll help you out

I had a full days expert tuition the day before my last trial and can't recommend getting some pointers highly enough.....even I can look like I'm fairly in control now:D

That's the one, Dabbers at Downham Market.
You must have watched me, oh the shame of it all.

No shame attached mate, you were out there having a go :thumb

I wobbled and footed around to start with and didn't complete the course, my excuse is my new to me twin shock Monty. Got a bit better later but I had a good time as well.

I think we met up at Deopham a while back, what bike have you got ?
