Hello..

Yestarday the yellow warning ligth turn on warning "Fuel", although the tank being full..

The range begun to deacrease very quickly " 125..120..85..36..20.16..14..10..9..3..2..1 and _ _ _ .

Do you think is an electronical problem? Possible to solve at home?

The bike is new about 985 km´s... after owning so much bikes..never had anything similar...and i really believe i had the state of the art on bike...

Best Regard....

Please confort me....:nenau

After a recent trip to the continent Ive decided that the on board computer fuel gauge is a joke:spitfire .
Nightmare trying to gauge how much is left in the tank:blast .
Among many other irregularities. Went for a 150KM spin in the Alps. 2 KM into the trip and the range was reading 179 KM; at the end it was reading 279 KM with no fuel added:confused: .
Seem to remember another thread suggesting carrying spare fuel so you could run the bike to empty, and that this would calibrate the sensors. I’m not so sure about that working. Has anyone tried it?

.

The range function takes into account recent consumption figures if you have been bimbling about then the distance to empty will increase, start to hoon a bit and the figure will drop quickly, mine is very accurate but I understand others have found fault with the system.

Well, if as you say, the tank was full then there must be a problem. I would suggest you take it back to your dealer to sort out under warranty.

Derek.

Dear Shep
Please can you define the difference between a hoon and a bimble.
Personally I cruise or rag it and just wondered where they fell on your scale

Hoon

Slight lifting of front wheel on lower gear changes, wheelspin out of slow corners and away from a standstill, wheelies away from lights, overtaking cars at maximum speed/noise level, toes of feet touching the ground on all roundabouts

Bimble

The ideal "bimble" would mean wearing an open face lid and a cheery smile, agressive overtakes would only happen if unavoidable, a slow/medium measured progress (never over 85mph:nono ) no motorways or fast "A" roads.

The answer to your question i would say that the order would be

Bimble
Cruise
Hoon
Rag

Warranty

Get the bike back to the dealer. It will be a warranty issue. I had exactly this problem when mine was new and they replaced the sensor in the tank.

It`s deadly accurate now whether on a bimble or a Steptoe Moroccan Dash. Can`t comment on an organised rideout though.....can`t ride slow enough:D

Thow a match in the tank and measure the height of the flame. Then disconnect the battery and touch the +ve and -ve terminals together and bobs your uncle.

Try that yesterday..didn´t work..seems to be a good idea...

tank´s anyway....

cheers.

when mine was new it was very annoying often flashing yellow at me when I'd used half a tank - interestingly it became very accurate on about the fourth fill up - coincidentally I removed the black rubber sleeve in the filler hole at the same time - now much easier to fill.

One thing that I can add to many of the responses on this thread is that the miles remaining number rises incredibly slowly after filling up - once taking 40 minutes to get to its maximum - of course by then I'd used a fair bit.

But if in doubt - fill up they're heavy to push:thumb
