Does anyone know where a M10 x 80 bolt (pref torx) is used on the bikes at all ?
I can purchase an ordinary cap head from local stockists but they look pretty crap. If I know where the above is used elswhere on the bike, ill go and see mr BMW !! (Its to replace the plasticine bolt that came with a rear aftermarket crud stopper mudguard thingy !!)
Thanks all

its not just the size and length, you'll need the correct thread pitch.

Back in the 80's, I think there were three separate pitches for a 10.mm thread.

Sorry, I don't know where precisely you could find that size bolt, but I googled M10 x 80, and pulled this link out for you..

Not used this company myself, but they have a bewildering assortment of sizes, styles and materials.

When you say local stockist, is that a tool shed place or an actual fastenings shop? I used to use two near me when I was doing various repair jobs and they always found what I was looking for, except the LandRover trailing arm nuts I wanted as they were huge with a weird thread...

The rear shock mounting bolt on a pre LC GS is 10 x80, part # 07129907435, I got one from motorworks 3 weeks ago, have a look on the OEM parts finder, item 2 for a 2005 bike.
